TasteTV's 6th Annual Los Angeles Chocolate Salon took place Saturday at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.

It was a dream come true for any chocolate lover, with unlimited tastings of endless varieties such as organic, raw, 90% cacao dark, and even ube flavored chocolate.

Other unique flavors included durian, Thai chili ginger, and morello cherry ch?vre chocolates. There were also chocolates infused with fruits like mango and lime, whereas others featured spices and seasonings such as cardamom, Hawaiian black salt, and gray sea salt for dipping your chocolate.

In addition to chocolate, vendors offered tastings of savory treats such as beef jerky (including gluten-free jerky), and beverages such as Honest Tea and Swiss Water.

Other variations of sweets were available to sample as well, such as?hibiscus and green tea caramels,?mocha hazelnut toffee, and bacon caramel popcorn.

There was also sour plum popcorn, hibiscus popcorn, and the most surprisingly outstanding flavor combination of the day, seaweed caramel popcorn.?You read that right, folks. Seaweed and caramel, enveloping the popcorn and making it taste oh-so-good! The savory umami flavor of the seaweed brought out richer, deeper notes in the caramel, and the popcorn itself added the texture and chewy crunch to round out the experience.

The chocolates themselves came in many forms -- some were filled with two layers of infused ganache, while others enrobed various foods such as peppermint pieces and gingerbread. The rich chocolate also came in drink form and on a stick.

There was even chocolate for do-gooders, where the money raised from the chocolate-hazelnut spread sales went towards rescuing dogs, for those who like their chocolate served with a side of good deeds.

The $20 admission tickets also included access to the Fragrance Salon, where there were many artisanal fragrances to sample and purchase. Demos and talks throughout the 6-hour event featured topics such as chocolate and fragrance pairing, as well as how to temper chocolate properly to make shiny, professional-looking candy bars at home.

It was one of the sweetest tasting and smelling events of all time, as the chocolate talks and demos rounded out a day of festivities in Santa Monica on a sunny Southern California Sunday.
